About

Hello, welcome to Talking Perinatal

My aim is to help parents cope with mental health and wellbeing changes during the antenatal and postnatal period.

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor/ Therapist and Clinical Supervisor. I am  professionally accredited from the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and  am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work within both Ethical Frameworks, my work is supported with regular clinical supervision. As a practitioner I also recognise and work within the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines around antenatal and postnatal health. For example if a client is experiencing levels of anxiety or depression above moderate levels, that is at severe level then I will refer onto specialist services.

I've had the privilege and joy to work with many parents and their babies both short and long term. First in 2012 in the voluntary sector and later on in the Health Trust, community and in home settings. Working in early intervention and perinatal health I wholly support and recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing for parents whether you are a first time or many times a parent.

Special interests include: Transitioning into parenthood - The 4th Trimester and Attachment styles impact on parenting styles. I also welcome those who have experienced adverse childhood experiences who are now parents themselves.

Outside my therapy services, I am an experienced facilitator/ coach. I also continue in education lecturing in counselling studies
